Recreio Desportivo de Águeda

Águeda Municipal Stadium (artificial turf)

Multiporpuse stadium with the capacity for 10 000 people, it’s the home to RD Águeda in the games of Honor Division of AF Aveiro in the district divison of Portugal. It was built in 2003.

The club was funded in 10th April 1923 and nowadays is mainly focused in football.

Throughout its history, the Recreio Desportivo de Águeda had a presence in the actual Liga Zon Sagres, another in the 2nd League Cabovisão, 19 presences in the National Seniors Championship and 18 in the now extinct 3rd League.

The club had two landmark cases at the disciplinary level, one that stopped his promotion to the Liga Zon Sagres , known as the “Gerúsio” case and another that dictated his relegation to the AF Aveiro Championships although his maintenance was assured in the fields.

The RDA formation has along the years produced players who later went to large Portugal clubs such as Diogo Galhano to Boavista, Miguel Mota to Belenenses, Zé Miguel to União de Leiria, Stéphane Oliveira , David Emanuel , Ricardo Pinto and Gustavo Miranda to FC Porto, Vidal, Albano Soares and Fábio Cardoso to Benfica, as well as Zé Nuno Amaro who played for SC Braga.

The club was also trained by the well-known coaches José Maria Pedroto and Mário Wilson.

In the past, the club also promoted and stood out in Canoeing, in Athletics and Cycling, where he competed in the Bicycle Tour of Portugal in 1964.
